Our Great Northern Wilderness is a great historical book.  Rediscover the North Wood around Baxter State Park, the Allagash, Moosehead and Nesowadnehunk Lakes.  Travel back over 50 years to a time when logs were floated to markets and lumber camp flourished.  Over 100 pages that include photographs and illustrations, Our Great Northern Wilderness was written by educator and historian Elinor Stevens Walker of Clinton, Maine.  It was published in 1966.  Recently discovered in a granddaughter’s attic, these are the original published books.
